Costa Maya, Mexico [travel]

February 28, 2016

Last December, my husband and I embarked on a short five day cruise upon the Celebrity Eclipse ship. The cruise port started in Miami and headed down to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. The Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship itself was beautifully decorated with high-end contemporary interior design. There was a freshly manicured lawn on the highest deck of the ship, better known as the Lawn Club, which was my personal favorite part of the overall ship!

We enjoyed our first cruise day and then arrived at Costa Maya, Mexico. Costa Maya (Mahahual) is a small tourist town located in Quintana Roo, surrounded by the Caribbean sea to the east and just north of Belize. Upon arrival, we hopped onto a open-air bus and headed to any beach that the locals took us to. The beach we arrived at was known as Blue Kay Beach. The water reminded me of the Florida Keys, not perfectly clean and clear water, but still very nice. We lounged at Blue Kay Beach for a while and ordered a fruit drink. We walked west of the beach and realized that we were only a few steps from downtown! The downtown area is definitely an area that I would recommend for others to visit. Locals entice you to eat and lounge at their restaurants and beach areas. Costa Maya is a very small town, where one can walk from one end to the other in less than a few miles. It’s a very quiet and relaxing area to visit. Plus, it’s only a hop over from the states!

Enjoy the photos and let me know what you think! PS, the last photo is of us passing by Cuba on our cruise! 🙂
